As we have done in the past, the Network Operations team will be performing software upgrades to the network equipment in all campus buildings during the electrical shutdown weekend. These upgrades are needed to address some stability and security issues in the software currently installed. The impact of this work will be a ten- to fifteen-minute loss of all network connectivity in each building as the new software loads. The majority of this work will be performed in a rolling fashion between 7AM and 10AM on Saturday, but there could be other brief outages throughout the weekend to address any problems we encounter. Please note that in buildings that will be without power that also have no backup generator, the network will eventually shut down once our backup battery systems are exhausted. Network service in those buildings should return once power is restored.
