The ITS Security and Systems teams will be cutting over inbound and outbound mail to Proofpoint, a cloud-based solution. This will enable email to continue to flow in the case of an on-campus issue, and will eventually provide additional email filtering and security once features are enabled. An outage is possible for up to 30 minutes, but 2 hours have been reserved.

A minor update will be performed on the apps.brandeis.edu / oncampusapps.brandeis.edu server. This server is responsible for Web applications such as the Faculty Guide, the People Directory, go.brandeis.edu URLs, and more. There should be no downtime or any user impact during the maintenance.

Wireless Network Maintenance Aug 28, 06:00-08:00 EDT
On Tuesday, August 28th at 6 am, we will be migrating our network access systems (ClearPass) to new hardware. Only intermittent connectivity delays are expected, and all work will be completed by 8 am.

Emergency LATTE Maintenance Aug 29, 06:00-07:00 EDT
LATTE will be unavailable as the system undergoes emergency maintenance to address problems experienced during the week of August 13th. During this time the database server will be shut down. LATTE will be unavailable at that point until the server is brought back online upon completion of the maintenance.

Resolved - Per Duo: "Update - Our Engineering team's service changes have been completed and have resulted in authentications now completing as normal." Authentication to Brandeis applications should now be operating as normal.

Investigating - We have seen some incidents of end-users getting an error when trying to connect to campus IPTV. We have opened a support ticket with Comcast to address the issue.

Update - Verizon has advised that end-users experiencing problems reaching campus need to call the technical support number on their bill. We are aware of at least one end-user who had success getting this issue resolved via contacting Verizon via this method.

Update - We have become aware of a major Verizon network outage in the New York City area, which is probably the root cause of the Verizion Fios connectivity issues. For at least once customer, we could trace their traffic getting as far as NYC before stopping.

Identified - We have received a few reports of Verizon Fios customers not being able to reach campus servers. The problem lies within the Verizon network. The Verizon Fios customers experiencing the problem need to reach out to Verizion technical support. The Brandeis Network Operations team has also reached out to Verizon.

Scheduled - As we have done in the past, the Network Operations team will be performing software upgrades to the network equipment in all campus buildings during the electrical shutdown weekend. These upgrades are needed to address some stability and security issues in the software currently installed. The impact of this work will be a ten- to fifteen-minute loss of all network connectivity in each building as the new software loads. The majority of this work will be performed in a rolling fashion between 7AM and 10AM on Saturday, but there could be other brief outages throughout the weekend to address any problems we encounter. Please note that in buildings that will be without power that also have no backup generator, the network will eventually shut down once our backup battery systems are exhausted. Network service in those buildings should return once power is restored.

Scheduled - Brandeis ITS will be cutting over several remaining Layer 3 routing/default gateways in the data center to our newly deployed hardware as well as removing the final links to the legacy hardware. The maintenance window is scheduled for Wednesday, August 8, 2018, from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM. The maintenance window is to complete our data center networking hardware upgrade.

Due to the scope of the work being performed, there may be brief service interruptions during the maintenance window. ITS recommends all system owners to test and verify their systems are operational.
